Missions

Be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8

We believe that everyone has a part to play in the kingdom of God and sharing his hope with the world around us. Jesus met many physical needs before He addressed their spiritual need. Meeting a physical need earns you the opportunity to share something deeper, more impactful and everlasting. God has given each of us many different gifts to come and work together for His purpose. It means stepping outside of our comfort zone to get involved in the work that God is doing, to have an impact on the lives of those around us. Whether you are young or old there is a mission opportunity for you!

Active Missionaries

Wil and Yolanda

Wil Bailey is a North Carolina Conference Missionary. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School in May of 2003 and has been commissioned as a United Methodist Volunteers in Mission Individual Volunteer. His wife, Yolanda, is an active, life-long member of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica. He founded Costa Rica Mission Projects through the Methodist Church of Costa Rica.  They serve the people of Costa Rica through various work projects and ministries, they are based in the San Isidro area.

Jackie and Hernando

Jackie and Hernando run an orphanage just outside Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with around 35 children at any given time with two large dormitories.  We partner with this ministry by helping to cover the educational costs of each child and cover regular living expenses for this ministry to thrive. Jackie also ministers to many haitian families that are living at the dump nearby.

Local Missions

We have several opportunities for outreach in our community and surrounding areas. Here are just a few.

Disaster Response Team

The team is supported by a utility trailer stocked with chain saws, generators, cleaning supplies, tarps, power tools and a variety of hardware  to get people back on their feet after a devastating event. During serious or complex events, the trailer is also equipped with a computer, solar power, walkie-talkies and a high power 2-way radio.
Are you prepared for a disaster?

Mercy Hour

Mercy Hour is designed to help improve the lives of the homeless and needy in our area. We are the bridge that connects individuals to  God and God's love. We accept them as  they are and encourage them to seek a relationship with God, seek assistance for their addictions, and seek a church home. We do this by providing for some of their needs such as warm showers, new underwear & socks, snacks & drinks, and misc. other basic needs. This ministry meets on Tuesday afternoons at The Bridge.

Interfaith Kitchen

Our goal at the Interfaith Kitchen is to feed the homeless or struggling individuals and families in our area with a warm smile and a loving heart. We are blessed with a wide variety of volunteers from many denominations and community organizations. But we could always use more volunteers. If you have a group and would like to volunteer, please speak with Hollie Hastings (302) 562-5280.

Feeding Program

Feeding and caring for those of all ages that may be marginalized or forgotten in our community. We partner with a local elementary school and multiple senior living facilities to fill in the gaps by meeting some of their physical needs.
